Manchester Parish is looking for a logo! We are looking for logo entries from talented aspiring and established Graphic Designers. Read below for details on the Manchester Parish Logo Competition:

Manchester Parish turns 200 years old next year and we want a logo that tells a story of what Manchester Parish is all about. The Manchester Bicentennial (200) Steering Committee is launching a Manchester Parish Logo Competition to set Manchester Parish apart!


  • Colours: shades of yellow, green and red


  • Suggested themes for inspiration focus on unique traits of Manchester Parish:

–          Natural scenery and ecology: mountains, cool climate, Canoe Valley, wetlands, Oxford River

–          Industries: Bauxite Industry, Agriculture (particularly citrus) and educational institutions

–          Rich History: Birthplace of Norman Manley, home to historical churches

–          Manchester Communities: Mile Gully, Alligator Pond, Christiana, Spurtree, Crosskeys, New Green, Swaby’s Hope and Lincoln (to name a few)


  • Legible, easy to decipher and clearly represents ‘Manchester Parish’
  • Will look good in black and white as well as in colour
  • Is scalable. Works at 1 inch and 100 feet.
  • Versatile & multi-purpose. Has to reproduce well on letter heads, business cards pens, mugs, banners, booths, etc.
  • Simple, memorable and creative
  • Entries will be accepted in file formats: EPS, TIFF, RGB, JPEG, GIF or PNG and in colour format CMYK


  • E-mail entries to: 200manchester@gmail.com or drop off in person at the Manchester PDC
  • Entries are asked to include a logo, their full name and full contact information (phone number and email)
  • The closing date for the competition is November 18th, 2013
  • The winning entry will be announced to the public and media on December 13th, 2013 by Her Worship the Mayor at the annual lighting of the Christmas Tree


  • The competition is open to citizens of Jamaica of any age
  • The winning logo will be chosen by a panel of experts and community members
  • The winner of the logo competition will publicly be recognized at the launch of Manchester’s 200 year celebrations on December 13th, 2013, in a media release, on social media and on the Manchester PDC and Manchester Parish Council websites
  • The logo will be used year round for the Manchester Bicentennial celebrations, and is the property of the Bicentennial Celebration Steering Committee
  • When used credit will be given to the designer
  • By submitting work entrants acknowledge The Manchester Bicentennial Celebration Steering Committee’s  right to reproduce images of their work and showcase the winners on our website, print materials and related digital products
  • MBCSC assumes all entries are original and are the works and property of the entrant, with all rights granted therein.
  • MBCSC is not liable for any copyright infringement on the part of the entrant and will not become involved in copyright disputes.
  • The Logos will be judged using the following criteria:
